Fauna refers to the animals and creatures found within Sons of The Forest.
List of Fauna[edit | edit source]
Passive[edit | edit source]
- Birds - can be found everywhere, gives feathers when killed.
- Ducks - can be found in ponds, gives feathers and 1 raw meat when skinned.
- Deer - can be found in forests or fields, gives 3 raw meat and hide when skinned.
- Eagles - can be seen flying far up and occasionally swooping down to grab prey, gives feathers when killed.
- Freshwater Turtles - can be found next to most inland water bodies, gives 1 raw meat when killed.
- Hummingbird - can be found around plants, gives feathers when killed.
- Moose - can be seen wandering the island. When attacked they can hind kick or ram you to knock you down to get away, gives 4 raw meat and hide when skinned.
- Rabbits - can be found on the island, gives 1 raw meat when skinned.
- Salmon - can be seen jumping up waterfalls or swimming in lakes, gives 1 raw fish when killed.
- Seagulls - can be found near beaches, gives feathers and 1 raw meat when skinned.
- Sea Turtles - lays eggs on the beach during the summer season, gives 1 turtle shell and 2 raw meat when skinned.
- Skunks - can be found in some forested areas, gives 1 raw meat when skinned
- Squirrels - can be found on the island, gives 1 raw meat when skinned.
- Raccoons - can be found wandering the island, gives 2 raw meat when skinned.
Hostile[edit | edit source]
- Killer Whales - can be found in the ocean, can be killed but not skinned.
- Sharks - can be seen in the ocean or in flooded caves connected to the ocean, can be killed but not skinned.
Decorative[edit | edit source]
- Bats - can't be killed or harvested.
- Fireflies - can't be killed or harvested.
- Sea stars - can't be killed or harvested.
- Spiders - can be killed but not harvested.
- Frogs - can be killed but not harvested.
- Butterflies - can't be killed, can land on the players axe.
- Helicopter - Appears on scripted occasions. Cannot be "killed", Can damage the player if ran into.
Spawning[edit | edit source]
Most animals have spawn zones, which activate once a player is close enough to them. Once a zone activates the animals will be spawned.
The only exception to this rule are Turtles, as these get spawned upon world creation and only a few can respawn each day.
This map shows the spawn zones for:
Deer: Red
Raccoon: Green
Rabbit: Light Blue
Skunk: Yellow
Moose: Purple
Turtles: Dark Blue
