Barbara Puffton is a non-playable character in Sons of the Forest and the wife of Edward Puffton. As a socialite, Barbara was initially involved in her husband's business affairs, occasionally acting as his assistant and relaying orders to employees. Despite her involvement, Edward appeared distant from her, notably excluding her from his will and referring to her merely as his "spouse" in brackets.

Concerns and Correspondence[edit | edit source]

After moving to the Island, Barbara became increasingly worried about Edward's erratic behavior, particularly his visions of strange worlds and a sense of impending disaster. She confided these concerns to her old friend Doris through letters. Doris, although empathetic, found Barbara's worries overwhelming and often deflected the topic.

The Cube Incident[edit | edit source]

Barbara attended a reception in the banquet hall where the Cube's activation occurred, resulting in her transformation into a mutant. Unlike others who suffered more severe mutations, Barbara's changes were more pronounced, affecting her agility and strength significantly. Alongside her mutated husband, she roamed the Food and Dining Bunker. Jack Holt encounters and ultimately ends their misery during his exploration of Holosprings.

Gameplay[edit | edit source]

Barbara Puffton, along with Edward, serves as a mid-game boss in Sons of the Forest. In this encounter, she uses her speed and agility to perform hit-and-run attacks on the player, making her a formidable opponent. Barbara's primary move is a spin attack, which deals significant damage and requires the player to stay mobile and focused. The recommended strategy for defeating her involves using ranged weapons like a shotgun or pistol to keep a safe distance and aiming for headshots to maximize damage. Proper preparation, including wearing protective armor and carrying healing items, is crucial for surviving this encounter.

After defeating Barbara and Edward, players can loot Creepy Armor from their bodies, which provides additional protection in subsequent battles.

Barbara's transformation and the subsequent boss fight add depth to the game's storyline, showcasing the tragic consequences of the Cube's activation and the impact it had on the Puffton family.
