The Island also referred to as "Site 2," is the setting of Sons of the Forest. The vegetation and precipitation on the island suggest that it is a temperate mixed forest. The Island is settled by an indigenous population that is hostile towards outsiders. Most people who travel to the Island never return giving rise to tales of cannibalistic tribes and even malformed and misshapen monsters that lurk in its deep cave networks.

Recently the Island was acquired by Puffcorp to utilize its various caverns to build underground luxury hotels, with construction already underway.

Geography[edit | edit source]

A painting of the Mountain of the Island

The Island protrudes from the ocean and rises to form a central mountain. There are several features of the island that suggest the island was formed through volcanism and that the mountain is indeed a dormant volcano. South of its summit lies a cavity that forms a frozen lake, and there are basalt outcroppings all over the island. There are several rifts and fractures on the surface and some lead to extensive caves.

There is flowing lava deep in the caves beneath the Island.

Freshwater is abundant on the island. Meltwater from the Mountain forms most of the major rivers and there are over 20 lakes of varying sizes. There is a large river basin on the eastern part. There are beaches on most of the Island's coastline.

Ecology[edit | edit source]

Most of the Island is densely forested. Judging from the vegetation and amount of precipitation on the island - the primary biome appears to be a temperate mixed forest, with alpine tundra above the Mountain's snowline.

Flora[edit | edit source]

For a detailed list, see Flora.

The forest canopy consists of both coniferous and deciduous trees. These include Spruce, Birch, Maple, and Oak. The undergrowth is very diverse and rich with various types of berry bushes like snowberries, blackberries, and blueberries; edible and medicinal plants like horsetail, arrowleaf, and yarrow.

Uprooted bull kelp can be seen washing ashore. There appears to be the presence of a few invasive species like the Aloe Vera and Guarana Berries.

Fauna[edit | edit source]

For a detailed list, see Fauna.

The largest mammal on the Island is the Moose, followed by a large population of deer. Surprisingly there are no terrestrial predators on the Island, who have likely been hunted or exterminated by the indigenous people. The only natural predator found on the Island is the Eagle. There are 3 distinct species of perching birds identified by their bright red, blue and yellow plumage. Occasionally hummingbirds can also be seen.

The various lakes and rivers are brimming with Salmon. Painted turtles can be seen near freshwater bodies with water lilies. Sea turtles come ashore during summer to lay eggs on the beach. Great white sharks and Orcas can be spotted around the coast.

Timeline[edit | edit source]

  • Edward Puffton starts constructing a series of bunker facilities all over the Island.
  • A new metal ore is found on the Island. [2]
  • All communication with the Island is lost and the fate of all the Puffcorp employees including the Pufftons are unknown.
  • Several mercenary groups are sent to investigate the disappearances.

Maps[edit | edit source]

Trivia[edit | edit source]
