Solafite Plating

The Solafite Plating is a process added in Patch 12 allowing players to upgrade applicable items by coating them in solafite. It is done through player-built structures in which Solafite can be placed and smelted to plate the item.

Gameplay[edit | edit source]

Solafite Plating involves a process akin to electroplating. The plater structure usually consists of a vat in which both the item and Solafite ore is placed. When the structure is activated, it will attract lightning into the vat, agitating the Solafite and causing it to melt then subsequently coat the item. The process will take 2 minutes and 30 seconds to complete and, if it is interrupted for any reason, the item will be given back to the player unaltered, but the Solafite ore used for the plating will be lost. If damage to constructions is activated, the lightning striking the vat will destroy any structure placed directly above the plater. Plated items will usually gain a substantial bonus in their stats thanks to their harder and more resilient coating, at the cost however of a potentially very risky process.

Solafite Storm[edit | edit source]

The process of electrifying the solafite will cause an energy disturbance so large that it will cause an electric storm over the Island. Additionally, this will attract 2 waves of mutants to the location of the plater. The mutants generated in those waves can be of practically any type, ranging from simple Puffies to Legsies or Caterpillars. The size and composition of the wave will disregard the number of days passsed, which means that mutants that otherwise cannot naturally spawn prior to a certain day can appear in a Solafite Storm wave. Each wave will be generated at one randomly chosen point a certain distance away from the plater, generally from an out-of-sight location. Mutants will only attack the player, and not the structure itself, although it can be destroyed from collateral damage.

For this reason, it is recommended to create a designated location for plater structures, preferably away from the player's base, to mitigate risks as much as possible. One method, for instance, could consist of building the plater on a platform perched on the crest of the mountain, preventing mutants from pathfinding to the player's location.
